On February 7th, Leaving My Father’s Faith got its launch event just outside Philadelphia in King of Prussia and attracted 250 ticket-buyers on a wintery Wednesday night. Tony and Peggy Campolo, Bart Campolo, Executive Producer Matt Dean and myself, director John Wright, were in attendance.
We had a great Q&A session with the Campolos in front of the screen afterwards, with many more Qs than the Campolos could A, all scribbled by members of the audience on index cards that arrived at the theater in the pocket of the elder Campolo; his idea to keep the session moving. It ended up being a wonderfully upbeat, heart-warming, funny, deep half hour of conversation, which continued at the restaurant across the street afterwards, where many of the crowd continued to chat and the Campolos signed books and DVDs (which arrived out of nowhere).
Here’s my behind-the-scenes vlog from the event! What’s next? A screening at USC, a screening in Beverly Hills and a whole cluster of other viewing events by universities, humanist groups and other organizations. Then – in March, we hope – streaming online for the rest of us.
Thanks for checking in and we’ll have more updates soon!
