After over 3 years of production and post-production, Leaving My Father’s Faith is streaming widely!
It makes me reflect on the process of getting here. All along the way, I imagined the audience for this film, the conversations it would provoke, the thoughts and feelings in response. And now, having heard many of them, I know that I was right about the value of this documentary! Bart and Tony are worth listening to on a whole range of subjects, but none are more compelling to me than the conversation between them captured on this film.
I got an email recently. The guy who wrote it had gotten hold of a DVD of Leaving, and told me he was deeply and profoundly impacted by it. “I’ve been waiting for this film for 55 years,” he wrote, and he wasn’t kidding. By his second email, he had watched it 6 times.
I don’t expect most people to be hit in the gut by the film quite as much as that guy, but I’m so thrilled to report that overwhelmingly there’s a sense that the subject is resonating with its intended audience, both Christians and unbelievers, and that people are coming away smiling and engaged in new thought. I can’t ask for much more than that.
Thanks for all your support and love.
